Stamford & Beyond

Featured in many historical films including George Eliot's Middlemarch and Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, Stamford is a beautiful stone-built market town dating from the 9th century. Based on the main coaching route between London and Edinburgh, the town still boasts many fine old coaching inns as well as its famously imposing Georgian architecture and old-world charm.

The Great Outdoors

Beyond Stamford you can enjoy the beautiful countryside and attractions of the Lincolnshire Vales. Visit the ancient market towns of Oakham and Bourne, and the unspoilt surrounding villages and hamlets. For idyllic walking, picnicking and wildlife, visit Rutland Water Nature Reserve on one of the largest man-made reservoirs in Europe. You can also enjoy a variety of watersports and fishing on the reservoir, as well as 25 miles of walk and cycle paths which run close to the water's edge and through woodland. Climbing and abseiling are available through The Rock Blok, while you can enjoy a good round of golf at Rutland County, Burghley Park and Greetham Valley golf clubs.
